Most of us construct definitions for ourselves in order to justify our existence in within the space. We use terms related to our careers, family, personality, nationality, race and many more. Is probably impossible to describe yourself in one sentence but from all the possible words that can describe a person, which one do you think describes you best?
I can definitly relate to this, didnt see this work before now. I think being multi cultural can be a difficult thing but also really powerful thing to approach in art. These days more and more ppl can say they belong to more than one culture/ethnicity or whatever, we are becoming majority. Like u say, why does a person or thing have to be just one thing or neatly fit into one genre. And knowing this why does one still feel uncomfortable or wrong when one cant provide one clean answer to these questions. Dont know, but by making our art i think we are resolving this issue for ourselves one step at a time. Glad i saw this, chat saturday!
